Safari Issues With Downloading .PDF Files
Some users may find that when using the "Download Copy" button In Safari for .pdf files it will now first open a .pdf file in the browser window rather than download the file. Following this file opening in browser it can then be saved / downloaded by hovering the mouse at the bottom of the page and selecting the far right icon, however it will then have navigated away from the iinsight system and introduces an extra stage.
To remove this setting in Safari there are 2 elements that you may need to be performed.
The first is a Terminal command you need to run.
To open a new Terminal window first opening spotlight using
and then search for "Terminal".
When the Terminal window opens up enter the following command:
...and hit enter to run the command.
You won't get a response from the terminal after running the command successfully. If you get an error message however please check the command you entered and try running again.
Once you have run this successfully restart Safari and your machine.
Following this .pdf files should no longer open as a URL in the browser and will download properly.
For most users this should be enough however if after restarting this still hasn't resolved the issue you may need to move some setting files relating to the Safari pdf viewer.
To do this navigate to the following folder using either Go in finder or spotlight:
And once here move the files
And
to the following directory:
The folder is in the same location as the files you are moving so you can just drag and drop. It may request an admin password to perform this and also make sure once they have been moved that the original files are not still there...sometimes it will copy to the new directory instead of moving. If this happens delete the original files (please make sure first however that they did copy to the "Disabled" folder.
Following this restart Safari and your machine again and this should then allow you to download .pdf files correctly.
