Windows File Associations Fix

If the standard installation process does not work or you are having difficulty opening documents from iinsight®, this might be due to the file associations on your Windows PC not being set correctly.

Please find some instructions below on how to manually set these:

WINDOWS 10:

1) Go to the Downloads folder on your PC and find an iinsight .iin file. These will just have a name that is a string of numbers such as “123748123.iin”. If you cannot find a .iin file, log into your iinsight system and try to use “Open Doc” on a Word document on a case (please note it must not be a “Approved” document), and this should download a new file for you to be able to continue the process.

2) Right Click on the .iin file and select "Open With...":

This will most likely incorrectly state that the file is trying to open with MS Word.

3) First tick the checkbox for "Always use this app to open .iin files" and then click on "More apps":

4) Scroll all the way to the bottom of the Windows suggested options and click "Look for another app on this PC":

5) Navigate to the following folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Be software\iinsight\add-on

Select the "iinsightIInLauncher.exe" file and click "Open":

6) IMPORTANT: If the .iin file selected in stage 2 was recent it may now open the file. If this occurs please close this without making any changes, nor saving, as it will have a live link to the document on your iinsight system so any modifications made will edit the file. If the .iin file was old it will fail to load however this is ok as the file association changes will have been saved.

When you next log into iinsight® and use the "Open Doc" feature everything should now open correctly.

If you still experience any issues after performing the above or get stuck at any stage please don't hesitate to contact your local support team using "Open a Support Ticket" in the "Help" area at the top right of your iinsight® system.

WINDOWS 7 & 8.1:

1) Click Start > Control Panel (For windows 8 use Ctrl + X then click Control Panel)

Default Programs

Select 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program':

Ensure that the associated file type for the *.iin file is "IinsightInLuncher.exe" as shown below:

If it isn't correct, change the selection through the 'Change Program' button. The file should be listed, but if not, use the browse function to locate the file which can be found:

(C:) - Program Files (x86) - BE Software folder/iinsight:

Add-on:

Addon_Folder.jpg

Double click on iinsightiinLauncher.exe

Word documents should then open using the 'Open Doc' button.
