Setting up an "App Password" in Google Mail

When entering the Password this is NOT your usual email address password and needs to be a "App Password" that is used uniquely for IINSIGHT.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Google "App Passwords" are revoked when you change your Google Account password.

If you change your Google Account password you will need to create a new "App Password" (as outlined below), and re-enter this into your SMTP settings on IINSIGHT.

To set up a "App Password" in Google Mail go to your Google Account https://myaccount.google.com/ and select Security in the menu once signed in:

Under "Signing in to Google," select App Passwords:

PLEASE NOTE:

If you don’t have this option, it might be because:

  1. 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account.

  2. 2-Step Verification is only set up for security keys.

  3. Your account is through work, school, or other organization.

  4. You turned on Advanced Protection.

In the Select app box choose "Other (custom name)":

And enter a custom name and click Generate:

The "App Password" you need to use as the Password in your SMTP settings on IINSIGHT is the 16-character code in the yellow bar:
